The sad part is that Haldir is still going to die, but it's from his perspective.

^ I agree! Sorry, off-topic, but in response to your question Mil, it's a smilie I found. Here is the link for that one: www.websitegoodies.com/smilies/gfx/sad0017.gifAnd if you haven't done so already, here's how to upload your own personal smilie section. 1. Click on profile 2. At the top there are three links- Modify Profile, Bookmark and User Smilies. Click on User Smilies. 3. Click on the Add smilie button and put in the url. (If you find smilies on other sites, you may have to upload them to photobucket, imageshack or another image hosting site if they don't let you direct link) 4. Click Save Smilies and you are done! The smilies should appear when you hit the reply button along with the standard smilies.

Hmm ... Eyalan you should ask alexei ... she's my Tolkien Encyclopedia ... she knows literally everything there is to know about Middle-earth.

LOL. Thanks for making my day, Haldir. On Glorfindel: at the time of writing LotR Tolkien didn't even mean for the two Glorfindels to be the same elf. I think the whole story on Glorfindel, including the reincarnation bit, is in a volume of The History of Middle-Earth. I would hardly call that hardcore canon, because really those were just notes that Tolkien started to write up, but that's where the whole Glorfindel thing came from.
Memories: I have no idea about this. I can't recall any information on memories after death. Here's the what I think, though. If Third Age Glorfindel being the same as First Age Glorfindel was such a big deal I would assume him remembering who he was would be important. There wouldn't be a difference to him being just another Joe, really, so why make up the backstory? Then again, it might have been because Tolkien didn't feel like changing his name after LotR had been published.

Yeh! I think I read somewhere that they do remember their past lives, because those lives are still part of them. There spirit remains, and they dont loose any knowledge, but maybe!
