I understand what you mean Mil. Haldir is my second favorite as well...after dear Legolas of course.
When I read that I was a bit torn. Part of me wanted to see it b/c it emphasizes his honorable nature. Yet the other part of me felt that if I had seen it, it would make me even more depressed than I already was at his death in the movie.

I don't even care anymore. It's not what happened in the book, so I just don't believe it anyway.

I still am haunted by the dying look in his eyes of utter fear and confusement. I perefer to think of him happy and peaceful in Lothlorien.

He was  ... he most likely did go off to war but VERY likely survived it along with a great many other Elves ... then he travelled to Valinor with the other Elves of Lórien ... and Lórien was later abandoned and deserted when the Elves had all gone. |

Yeah I know ... but it's true that Lórien was abandoned ... nobody's sure of Haldir, Rúmil and Orophin's whearabouts tho ...

I'm sure they're all fine... *shoulder clasp* Haldir and his brothers would not be killed so easily. I can never help but wince when he gets whacked in the movie though, even though it is of course ridiculous and fake and evil and nasty and bad and we hatess it preciousss....
