If you had children in the future, would you name them after Tolkien characters? Like... real children. Your flesh and blood. Not RP children (I've had my share fun in naming RP children before ) I definitely would... while everyone owns a baby name book, I'll use my Tolkien books for baby names. I already have a list made! *huge grin* Twin boys: Elladan and Elrohir (no question... they are BEAUTIFUL names). Two sons: Elrond and Elros. Two sons and a daughter: Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen. A son and a daughter: Eowyn and Eomer. Three sons: Fingolfin, Finarfin, Fëanor. (Or Haldir, Rúmil and Orophin... though I'd have my doubts in giving one of my sons the same name as me) Two daughters: Varda and Elbereth Three daughters: Varda, Elbereth and Elentári Yeah, I also have my doubts about my thoughtfulness in female names.. which is why I hope I'll never have more than one daughter. And I'd also only marry a man if he'd allow me to name the children

Wow, that's some list. XD I would name my son Haldir if I could, no doubt about that.

So not predictable I'd want to do that... but selfish me took the name first. I don't think a poor little boy would want to have the same name as his mumsie. 2 Boys + 1 Girl = Rúmil, Orophin + Haldir?

Hehe That would be a little weird. Unless you can think of a way to change it just a tad. Or maybe trying to make it sound a little more feminine on your part. Those probably sound dumb but whatever, XD at least I thought of something.

Well, now that you mention it..........
I could name them Hathaldir, Rhimbron and Orfin. Those were Haldir, Rúmil and Orophin's names originally, before Tolkien changed them *shrug*
Imagine me introducing myself and my child to your son Haldir, Mrs. Haldir. "Nice to meet you, Haldir! I'm Haldir... and this is Hathhaldir. Why don't you two run along and play nicely together."
;D

Same here... "Rhimbron" sounds alright though. When I told my friend about Haldir's original name, she was like "HAT-haldir?!?!?" And she nearly died laughing. The idiot calls me Hat now.
Rofl, it is! Imagine the poor and confused children. I swear... one day, the world will be dominated with Haldirs. ;D

I know a guy named Frodo, and a girl named Arwen. I think Arwen is a nice girl's name. Eowyn and Eomer are starting to get more and more common around here as well. I'm not sure I'd name my kids after Tolkien characters. Pippin and Merry (here translated as Pepijn and Merijn) are also common names, but I don't like either one of them for my children I think. Sam is a name for both genders here. I think that's pretty nice. So parhaps a Sam in the future. But then again, all Dutch names would sound Hobbitish to you all

Wow, that's cool! Arwen is a gorgeous name... I think if I had only one daughter, I'd name her Arwen. I'd wish to have two sons and one daughter, so that I can name them Arwen, Elladan and Elrohir, but I that probably won't be too likely Ha ha, imagine naming your kid Legolas! Kids LOVE to play with Lego... he'd either be the king of the sandbox or the outcast with the pathetic name.

Haldi's normal... a lot of forum people call me Haldy anyway, so I don't mind so much.
Aye, we could make the lovely name of Haldir popular! *dances*
