Probably their blue cloaks blended in with the sky or something, because there were a LOT of elves...hard not to notice.

Yeah true ... but there can't be any sky showing when they're in a huge forest like Lórien...

In the movie the forest wasn't all that dense (sp?), not at all as I virtuallized it in the book

Yeah it was strange ... but that didn't even happen in the book ... in the book, they're travelling through Lórien, then they hear Haldir's voice say "Daro!" from a talan high above them ... so that was more reasonable then them appearing directly in front of them without them realising it =/

Exactly! The book always makes more sense! *hugs them* My precioussesss...
But, their cloaks weren't blue in the movie, were they...? They blended with the trees.

Yeah ... I'm thinking that in the book, their cloakes were probably grey-ish green...

I was wondering what would happen if Haldir had joined the fellowship since there was two men why would not he join?? Haldir would be very helpful I suppose if he was to go with the fellowship. May be Boromir would be saved if he showed up before Lurtz shot at him. Another elf would be helpful in the fellowship's long road. I do not know it just crossed my mind

Yeah that's a good thought .. but it's because he wasn't important enough ... and he had to remain guardian of Lorien .. reasons like that ...

Yes, someone needed to watch over Lady Galadriel. Could you imagine how much power mordor would have if they captured Lady Galadriel? Frodo would have died, and the world covered in a 2nd Darkness!

lol. I don't think anything that drastic would have happened if Haldir was absent from Lorien, but it's fun to think about. Like Haldir (...) said, the reason he didn't have any chance to join the fellowship is because he wasn't important enough. Haldir's cool, but there's no reason to choose him over a number of other generic elves.

*snort* you're hilarious Yeah .. like Elrond's sons were both present during the Council of Elrond so if they had to send more Elves, they'd probably be one of the first options

From a story point of view he wasn't all that important, but he is one of our only views of a lower class elf in action. Yeah, we get to see Celeborn, Galadriel, Elrond, Thranduil, and they're all swell, but Haldir's pretty darn swell too.
