It's the only site I have seen so strictly enforce canon, and is all the better for it. I have to bow to the admin and mods for keeping it so high quality.

Really worth trying to join, if you want good stories, staff who know Tolkien inside out, and the challenge of being creative and improving oneself in the writing of this genre.

It is intermediate to advanced role-play.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a Mary Gary Sue?

LoL it's okay.. I didn't know what a Mary Sue was either until someone from A-U explained it to me about a year ago. It's the title given to any fanfiction/RP character (an original or deeply altered one). She isn't realistic and her personality/actions are all based on the writer's selfish ego for the character. The character usually has everything that the author wants for it and she lacks the usual downside of themselves that they're supposed to have and has just about everything perfect for only her. Basically, a Mary Sue is completely perfect, she lacks realistic flaws and she dominates the plot in a very stupid and unrealistic way... a girl who's incredibly beautiful and extremely good at fighting and has a perfect and completely flawless personality and absolutely no negative traits whatsoever, and everything happens in her favour.

A Gary Sue would be the same thing, but with a male character.

If someone can explain in a less-confusing way, go ahead.
