And it is. As we all know very well, "Legolas" means "Greenleaf". It kind of bugs me when people call him "Legolas Greenleaf" as though "Greenleaf" was his surname. It's not! Calling him "Legolas Greenleaf" would be calling him "Legolas Legolas" or "Greenleaf Greenleaf". It's redundant. Galadriel said it in her poem, brought by Gandalf... but she obviously knew that she was saying "Legolas Legolas". It just sounds right.
But it does kind of annoy me to see people strutting around with "Legolas Greenleaf" written everywhere. His proper name is "Legolas Thranduilion". "Legolas, son of Thranduil", which is what all Elves, Men and Dwarves do... "Blank, son of Whoever."

I have to admit the first time I read his name in the books, it seemed a like weird choice between all those other nice names Tolkien made up. but other then that: I totally agree! I'm not sure if we have such a member, but I can also eat my brains out (is that how you people refer to frustration?) when someone goed by the screenname Legolas Greenleaf. Come on! That's showing nothing but lack of respect to the one you're supposed to be fan of!

Lol, they could be! But then I know a lot of people in RL who claim to have read the books, who don't remember the poems and verses from them... but who still call the poor Elf "Legolas Greenleaf". Eya: I agree! Unless they have Galadriel's verse in their sig or something, it just shows ignorance. It's not like you'd call Haldir: "Haldir Hiddenone". It doesn't work that way

Yeah I read that somewhere. I don't remember where. And I'm pretty sure Evenstar means Arwen. But do you know what really ticks me off? Arya (female elf from Eragon) is Arwen in Elvish! So that was rather unoriginal of Christopher Paolini in my opinion.
