I've noticed something in many RPs lately (not on this forum, thankfully).. everyone seems to assume that every tree an Elf passes contains a talan. I'm not sure if I'm making much sense here, but telain are pretty much a Lothlórien trademark, like the mellyrn are. I see people RPing in places like Mirkwood, Rivendell.. and according to those RPers, all those places also contain mellyrn and telain. Okay, I'll give them the telain, since anyone is free to build them anywhere they wish to (though they were mostly used by Lórien's border guards for concealment...), but a mallorn in Mirkwood?!?! It's a Galadhrim thing...

I do not understand why such a wonderfull place as Rivendell should be marked with Mallorn Trees and Talans. It's like they have no idea of what a wonderfull world it is on it's own with many aspects that can be worked into the storyline. It is well hidden in the moorlands and foothills of the the Misty Mountains. The Hithaeglir (that's Sindarin for Misty Mountains) is a mountain range, running from the Wilderland in north to Eriador in the south. Who needs a Talan when there are so many high peeks that can be used as an outpost! As for the trees: Apart from having no minilights, Rivendell trees are also devoid of all shiny gold and silver plastic crap.
