As I carefully looked over the section of the Lord of The Rings that refers to the Aragorn's army of the Undead and the description of the Marches of the Dead one question comes into mind.
What created these undead creatures? Was it Sauron's foul magic that imprisoned the fallen heros in the marsh ? Then how did The Kings of Gondor put he cursee of the undead upon the hill folk. Did one of the Kings have a ring of power or were they mages? I have really no clue

It probably had something to do with the rings, I'd imagine... all the Rings of Power are extremely powerful. *blonde answer*

They were defenately not images, for they overthrown the orcs at Minas Tirith! How they came to be I do not know exactly.
