How did you feel after reading/watching the Lord of the Rings? Did you think it was a happy ending or not? Personally, I thought the ending was a bit sad. All loose end were tight up, but not all in a good way.. like the parting of Sam and Frodo for instance, or the fact all elves left. I know they would have left anyway.. but it's just so sad!

I can't say that I felt it was a happy ending per say, More of that it was an ending and that everything ended in the way that it was fated to be.

Yeah it was not more of a happy ending but anyway it ended in the way it must be. Since Elves obviously were leaving Middle Earth to arrive Undying Lands, Gandalf and Frodo joined them since they lived some sort of dying. Well it would be dreaming to wait a happy ending for every character

I'd say a little bit of both- evil was defeated, but there was also great sacrifice from the good-guys.

I'm just so glad Legolas and Gimli had the heart to stay in Middle-earth untill everyone was gone...

^ Me too. Everytime I watch the last piece I feel sort of sad. The departure of the elves always pains me. And when I listen to Into The West I feel like crying.
