This one's been bugging me for a while:
Both Sauron and Saruman are Maia, right? What made Sauron so much more powerful, that he could so easily corrupt Saruman? Did the Wizard just sit on his hands through all the wars while The Dark Lord learned all this mojo hojo from Melkor?
Seems to me that Saruman would have been a harder mark.
