Elrond, who did he think he is? Telling people to destroy the ring, to fight in war and so on... Where was he and his army in battle? He would have gone anyway... what do you think his role was in the Lord of the Rings anyway?

*puts on helmet*
Why didn't he take all that fighting experience to the war of the Thirth Age then? Is there some kind of rule people only get to fight in combat once? He seemed to know a lot about the enemy, he could be very usefull.

Probably becouse there wasn't enough elves left in imladris to over power the might of Sauron.

Lol no there isn't any rule at all ... he did know a lot about the enemy which is why he told them in the first place. And he didn't want to sacrifice the lot of his people again ... figures.

Mmm, I think Elrond, Galadriel etc, knew their time was over and there were so few elves left, perhaps he was '' weary in spirit ''. Personally I would have said '' Oh stuff it '' and gone down in death or glory, lol. He didn't only fight in the Last Alliance, Imladris was almost surrounded when there was war in Eregion, when Sauron attacked Ost-in-Edhil in the Second Age. I think all it really was, was that Tolkien decided that book should show Men coming into their own, and the Elves fading, I would have Glorfindel, & Elrond and all the remaining elf armies going to war, but then it would have been a different book. And they did fight, in Lorien, and Mirkwood, Saurons forces attacked while the other book battles were going on.

Yes, the Lothlorien elves sure did good. Perhaps that's the reason PJ placed them into Helm's Deep. To show that Galadriel was very helpfull with her 'crew'. On the other hand Elrond got to play a part as well; bringing the sword (movie only) and left... probably thinking "Oh stuff it" ;D Good one, Tar-Amon
