I haven't read it, but I know Tom's not god... has anyone here read the Silmarillion? Iluvatar (also called Enu) is the main god and he created lesser gods called the Ainur.

Shhh, nono, he's real! Anyway, I think I read that bit about the doll somewhere or other.. Where was that? Seems like his childrens' toys infiltrated into his writing on more than one occasion. But once again, I can't remember was those other occasions might have been. I think school and messing with my mind...

Anybody read Roverandom? It's all about a puppy dog, and the whole story is based around a toy one of his kids had and then lost. He told the story to make his son feel better, and then wrote it down. It's actually really cute...
