I just found this out. Tolkien's Aunt Jane live at a farm at Dromston in Worcestershire. The farm was at the end of a lane that led no further, and the local people used sometimes to refer to it as "Bag End". Neat. Do you know of any other places where Tolkien got names or anything?

That's so cool!!! No, I haven't heard of any direct names, but I know that he got a lot of his detailed descriptions from the British countryside. The appendecies told me as much, but nothing direct. No wait...there was something...I forget was it was now, but I thnk it as in the FOTR appendecies.

I thought so too. It's a great inspiration, the environment around you.

Well I know that Nessa is an Irish-Scottish name... And there are some very strong Tolkien connections in Scotland and Edinburgh - Aragorn was of the Dunedain - Dunedin is Edinburgh's Celtic name. (Gaelic... Dùn Èideann)
Lothians the name given to the region from king lot is very similar to Lothlorien which is also the worlds busiest ufo triangle (I heard) AND in what they call this golden circle - there are more lottery winners than anywhere else in the UK... the area has cavern systems called goblin halls and stuff.
