There was lots of extra dialogue in the Extended Edition, Like in the Gandalf reappearance scene, including Legolas noting the the elves taught the trees to talk and Gandalf predicting that Merry and Pippin will rouse the Ents. I donĀ“t understand why they would take such important information out of the movies! Why? It makes no sense. We all know that if Legolas has an extra few lines, no one will think it is overdone, and Gandalf's prediction would defenately make the hobbits not look that useless! Anyone else wants to put their two cents in this matter?

I'd say it was pretty much impossible for Jackson to please everyone. Even with the simplified plot my dad had trouble keeping track of everything happening in the movie. All of these cuts seem like little things that would have added story to the story and wouldn't have added too much time, but when you take a whole bunch of little things out it dramatically decreases the running time. I'd love for the movie to have followed the books perfectly, but it would be confusing for your everyday movie goer and it would be incredibly long.

Incredibly long Lord of the Rings... hmm yes that would be terrible! I'm not saying I'm comparing the literature with the movies, I wouldn't dare.. All I'm saying is, I would not have to explain the whole movie to non-readers every time because there is too little dialogue. I'm sure everyone on this forum have had that experience.

I agree. That really got irritating. I think it wouldn't have hurt just slipping in a few more lines. I mean, I take alexei's point to mind, but I don't think a few more lines would have complicated the script.

A few more Elvish lines would have been very much appreciated here ;D
