Like... Gildor, Bombadil, Goldberry and Glorfindel's absences... and Galdor's dialog at the CoE? (Loads more I know)
What did everyone think of that?
I didn't like it. I think it would have been so much more realistic if Glorfindel had shown up to take Frodo to Rivendell instead of Arwen. I also think that the Tom Bombadil and Goldberry scene not appearing was very depressing... it was a bit of a comic relief, and I was really interested in seeing that played out. As well as the hobbits meeting Gildor in the woods.

I think replacing Glorfindel for Arwen was a huge mistake. I can see PJ wanted to give her some character, but it doesn't stroke with the story. Why would Elrond sent his only daughter into the wild on such a dangerous mission? PJ could easily give her some spirit in another way. Besides, I'm sure no one would mind the presence of another elf

Exactly, it just doesn't seem right, does it? Like yeah, we know that Arwen is a really strong Elf, but she's still Elrond's daughter and allegedly "sent by him"... I don't think that Elrond would send Arwen when there exists a Glorfindel in Imladris. I definitely would not mind the presence of another Elf! Especially Glorfindel's presence...

I really have to disagree about Tom Bombadil. I'd say PJ had pretty good reason to leave him out. The movie is already 3 hours long, let's not add a half hour of songs about yellow boots! But really, that would be a difficult scene to pull off, and if he were to include Bombadil there is no way he could include both Old Man Willow and the barrow weights. I'd be stuck with songs and no action to wash them down. Glorfindel is my biggest peeve. Eyalan hit the nail on the head.

Well PJ cant sastifie everybody and if he had replaced Glorfindel with Arwen there would be allot of more things we could complain of. Then he would properly leave out some of the Arwen/Aragon scenes, and that would be terrible. They are like the light that shines in those movies! Love in dark times. *cough* or leave out Haldir *cough*
But I dont mind Tom Bombadil being left out, I never really liked him. Seemed like a morron in the book.

Leave Haldir out? ... *halts a moment in silence to burst out in laughter after that, for I can only imagine how some members might respond to that* Best topic ever! ;D
More Aragorn/Arwen scenes would have been lovely, if it's only because I loved her dresses. But that one scene was a little ridiculous. Oh well, that's just my opinion.
I agree on the Tom Bombadil issue, he's not doing very bad in the books, but he doesn't really seem to belong in the story. I believe I even skipped a few pages there.
(Or perhaps I misunderstood Nathalia and maybe she was aiming at Haldir's death scene in The Two Towers)

I was aiming Haldir in the entire movie. There would be a big chance PJ just chose to leave him out since he's not that big a char. Fx the slowmotion scene in TTT could be a quick death but insteed he got those extra seconds

Yeah, you're right... PJ can't satisfy everyone, but he could have at least tried to by making the film more like the book.
Why leave Haldir out of the entire movie? Would the Fellowship then lead themselves through Lórien? If you ask me, I think that Haldir and the Galadhrim's arrival should have been kept out of TTT, but his scene in Lórien should have been WAY longer than it was.

Okay, but those scenes could have been done without... Arwen was used as an alternative for Glorfindel, and it worked. But taking out the Lothlórien scene is impossible. Or if not, then who else would go take the Fellowship to Caras Galadhon... Galadriel herself? *blink* Ah, or maybe Arwen again... randomly?

There were enough unnecessary ones already! *faint* And Arwen stalking the Fellowship from Rivendell to Lórien seems like more of a Gollum thing.

No, Haldir was referencing this post she made. In the superhero genre, there's a saying that it's not good to kill a character, because every character is someone's favourite. I guess the main thing being killed here is a character's screen time, not the character himself (an exception in Haldir's case, heheheh), but the same idea. I have to say: the only thing that will make me laugh more is if a Tom Bombadil fan comes in here and starts complaining. Otherwise, this Arwen/Haldir battle has been great!
