And thank you all for the many replies! Someone stated Sindarin was Arwens' first language. Ofcourse it was. But that was also the case for Aragorn, right? He was brought up amongst elves. Why didn't he and Legolas spoke more Sindarin to each other then? It's all pretty weird. It's like.. when Folca and I have a discussion on this forum.

Well, if your talking movie wise, it would have been kind of boring for them to talk to eachother in a language most people don't know, even with english subtitles.

As a foreigner I'm pretty much used to that

I always have subtitles, they don't make the film boring or something like that. I think that it would be more realistic when they talked Sindarin, just like it would be more realistic if the Germans in Call of Duty 2 talked Germand and the Russians talked Russian.

He was brought up by Elves, but don't you think that they'd speak to a Dunadan child his own language first? Like sure, he'd learn a lot of Elvish and all, but I don't think that their intention was to turn him into an Elf So he'd only speak Sindarin to Legolas when they didn't want anyone else to know what they were saying..?

True, and i think that is why PJ never added a load of Sindarin into the movies. He only used it when secrecy was needed, or the mood was good, but he couldnt randomly put sindarin into the picture *although it would have worked anyway*

I was supposed to learn it properly off dreamingfifi's amazing site, but alas... I cannot, because of stupid school getting in the way and all.
