After his own (probably very accurate) insight of his father's work Chistopher Tolkien managed to complete the Silmarillon as we know it today and published it. What if he had no kids or whatever and you were asked to finish the job? Would you leave out stuff or would you have added something you think is more important? I myself would defenately not have made it so formal as it is. And perhaps I would have changed the title into something that would imply the beginning of Arda.

If it were me, I would deffinitely have made it less formal, as you said, Eya. I think I would probably have gotten some Tolkien experts and some highly-skilled authors to help me follow Tolkien's style of writing. It would be an honour but at the same time, a nightmare. I mean, how are you supposed to contend with that?
