That description isn't wrong at all! He was just referring to something but made it easily for the readers to understand! No Problem.

That's what I said before, but then again, this is written by Bilbo Baggins, supposedly (but we all know better) and Bilbo would not have used such a description because express trains simply didn't exsist.
