As for mysteries, when Tom Bombadil gets the swords and jewels out of the barrow (when he rescues the hobbits), there is a brooch with blue stones that he looks at and remembers a woman who wore it, then he takes it back to Goldberry. Is there any other mention somewhere of this brooch and who wore it?

Wow, I never even thought about that! I don't recall it. Perhaps its mentioned somewhere in the Silmarillion? (just throwing it out there...I've never read it myself)

Hmmm.... I've read it, but I don't recall anything about that. Of course, that doesn't mean it's not in there! It might be in the Adventures of Tom Bombadil, which I haven't read.

I've read The adventures of Tom Bombadil and the Silmarillion, but I don't think it was mentioned in either. Or maybe it was and I just didn't notice, it's the sort of thing that I wouldn't even think about.

Well, it is a rather small thing: Easily overlooked I guess. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though I hope someone ever runs into it, or has a great theory perhaps?
