Just a random, but rather interesting question; Which books do you have, or read written by Tolkien? I have only the Silmarillon, the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit in my posession. The Hobbit is the only one I have in my native language (Dutch), but since I'm such a purist, I have the others in English, for I like to know the original names and such. For instance: Can you believe they translated Strider into 'Stapper'?! It's not even close!

I have the three books of the Triloghy, Some in different editions of the same book as well as the Hobbit, the Sil, Unfinished Tales, a book on Weapons and Warefare though its so obvious just reading it that everything from it was taken from the Movies, a book called "Meditations on the Ring" which is a bunch of short essays by aurthors reflecting how its changed there writing style, and another book that I can't remeber its name but its about the impact the movies made.

LOTR, Hobbit. That's all My dad says we probably have the Silmarillion kicking around somewhere, but he doesn't know where. After all, it took him over a year just to find his LOTR books!

I am the same way Haldir Yesterday I was in Chapters which is an abseloutely massive book store chain, Its one of those places with leather chairs everywhere and you are encouraged to actually read the book before you buy it yesterday, and I can never go in there without browsings through Fantasy, and it seems like everytime I go in there they have brought out a new companion book that I need but really don't or something along those lines. There was one time where I found a hard cover and illustrated edition of The Silmarillion, It was *georgeous* I didn't buy it, maybe someday. A friend of mine is just as bad, we keep joking around that our paychecks every two weeks should just be sent directly to the store and cut out the middle man. What I would really like to find is a good book just on the languages of Middle Earth, There are snatches in some of the books I already have but just concentarting on the translation.

I have to wait until X-Mas when my aunt gives me the traditional Chapters $40 gift card as well as the free gift card for the movies (which will probably be saved to go see Eragon in theatres...I'll have my cell phone by then! WOOT!WOOT! Other one got stolen...and it was one of those pink RAZR phones too!)

Oh no! Those are expensive phones, when I was at camp one of the moms had hers stolen and it had alot of added stuff, so all together it was like a $400 phone, and she was so upset becuase the week before they had an equally expensive digital camera stolen. We found her phone, One of the kids had stolen it -_-
I wish my uncle would catch onto that thought and get me a gift card for Chapters, every years it comes from Gap which is thoughtful but nothing at the Gap ever works for me, and I really don't like there clothes, I find them all really pretenious. It would be espically helpful now that I have a huge list of Toilken related books I would like to get.

Books: The Hobbit, LoTR illustrated by Alan Lee, ( third copy, the paperbacks just fell apart after too much reading ) Books of Lost Tales 1 & 2, Unfinished Tales, the Silmarillion,( second copy, in hardback ) The HoME ( History of Middle Earth ) series, got all of them for a couple of quid at WH Smiths warehouse sale. Tolkien Illustrated Encyclopedia, the Atlas of Middle Earth. Never seen a good book on the languages, but this site www.uib.no/people/hnohf/has all of them.
